Yeah!! The weekend is finally here!! Mom made it in a-okay on her flight and we have been busying digging through fabric to work on a project for this weekend. We managed to find enough fabric between what she had & I had that we didn't even have to purchase any! (Kind of a bummer, but that's what a stash is for.) We started on the pattern just to give us a head start and we've already tweaked it. (I don't think I've ever made a quilt from start to finish exactly as the pattern says because . . . hmm, I'm not sure why.)
As you can see, AT was getting his hugs & snuggles in with Gma. The kids are going to hang out with T all weekend. It's going to be fun ;-)
Enjoy your day and I'll be updating how the weekend went on Sun or Mon!!

Can't wait for weekend!
Well the front of this week should be busy, but I can't wait for the end of the week! Mom flies in Tues and then Fri is our Crafter's Getaway! I have 3 quilt tops finished and am hand quilting 2 of them. Never had so many to work on. Luckily they are all baby size so they don't take long.
AJ has her Battle of the Books practice run tomorrow. She is so excited. I'm hoping she does well. She has read like 23 or 25 books. More than the librarian, but that worries me because she reads like me (fast). I'm hoping she can remember what she read so she doesn't disappoint her teammates. She had her first basketball practice on Sat. She did really good.
Hopefully I'll find time to update this week as it goes on, but if I don't, I'm sure I'll have plenty to talk about after this weekend. Pictures, too, maybe!

It's Weekend Again
This week has been relatively quiet. I did work a day and we've had a sick kids (AD came down with a bug that has been going around school). AJ and her missed a birthday party they had been looking forward to all week. Such is life and it was a bummer for all of us. AT also has come down with a yucky nose and T's still fighting a cold he's had since Xmas break. Ah, yes, it's January, can you tell?
We survived chaperoning (sp?) the Sadie Hawkins Dance last weekend. There weren't very many kids there, although, we did have slick roads that night. In fact, one kid rolled his car and he was supposed to be coming to the dance. He was okay, thank goodness, but the roads were blamed for low attendance. It's been awhile since I've been to a dance, let alone a high school dance (for good reason). Someone requested Michael Jackson's song "Billie Jean" and one of the kids came up and asked T & I if we could show them how to dance to it since it was so old! Geez; we're not THAT old! Needless to say the dance started clearing out after that. (And it was a kid that requested the song, not any of the chaperones!) Don't know if I'd sign up for that job again. It was a lot of standing around doing nothing until late. (And while I'm a late person, doing nothing makes it hard to stay awake!)
Our Crafter's Retreat is coming up in a week! Can't wait. I'm trying to finish hand quilting two baby quilts so that my sewing machine is free for next weekend. I pick up Mom next Tues and then it's just getting ready for what we want to work on.
AJ starts basketball tomorrow. She has 3 Saturdays of practice/games and then it's Cheer Camp after that. (AD is too young for basketball, but will be doing Cheer Camp as well.) Busy, busy children. They only have a half day today due to the end of the semester. Basketball game tonight so we may wander up and watch. Supposed to be a good game between two unbeatens in league.
I finished my class this week!!! Only been working on it for a year! Nothing like waiting to the last minute to get it done. Apparently my instructor said I passed (whew!) so that's good news.

Still here!
Yes, I'm still here. We have been busy, busy, busy. I can't quite put my finger on what we've been doing that's kept us so busy, but it must be something, right?
Been trying to do some things with the girls. One night we all tried our hand at hand stitching. AJ did really good; AD needs to be a little older; and me, well I need some practice. Last night we did some needlepoint. I think both could do the needlepoint better than the hand stitching.
Haven't picked up my quilting in over a week. Been reading, though. Finished two new series of books, which were pretty good. Clare O'Donohue- The Lover's Knot, A Someday Quilts Mystery Series and Earlene Fowler- Fool's Puzzle & Irish Chain, The Benni Harper Mystery Series. Since I like mystery, these both fit me pretty well. (Not as good as Jennifer Chiaverini's Elm Creek novels, but still pretty good.)
However, we have our Beta Crafter's Getaway coming up in two weekends, so I know I will get some quilting done then. I'm so excited!
Subbed yesterday, worked today, and will work again on Tues. This weekend we get to help chaperone the Sadie Hawkins dance up at school. Yikes! Not too sure about that one. Will keep you posted on how that goes!

Something Besides Monday
Well, I'm actually posting on a day besides Monday! Shock, I know, but I'm sure you'll all recover just fine. The snow we received Monday is all gone. The winds picked up over night and the temps jumped to 55 degrees! Needless to say it looks like a muddy spring day out there. Oh yeah, except it's January still!
I finally finished two quilt tops that I started on. Now onto quilting them. I have at least 3 or 4 friends that are all due in the next 3 months so I need to get moving. Mom is coming up at the end of the month for our Crafter's Getaway (our sorority group is hosting). Can't wait, although I'm not sure what we're going to work on. At least she's coming up before hand so that we can figure that out before the weekend.
Not much on the agenda today but I thought since I had a few minutes I would at least post on a day other than Mon. Still trying to finish up my class. The deadline of Feb 1st is rapidly approaching. No worries; it's pretty much the the norm for me. Why get anything done ahead of time when you can have the experience of stress, rush, and worry to finish it at the last minute? ;-)
Enjoy your day!

Snowy Monday
I'm not sure what it is, but somehow I always ending up writing on a Monday. Maybe because the kids are back to school and I can review how last week & the weekend went. Maybe I'm just lazy. Who knows. I can't say that Mondays are my favorite but that's just when I happen to find the time.
Christmas Break is over. The kids & T headed back to school this morning (following a 2 hr delay). We ended up getting about 3 inches of snow last night to cover up all the icy crusty stuff left from last week. I can't imagine how yucky the roads are. So glad I'm not going anywhere this morning. It's supposed to warm up so we will probably end up with a sloshy muddy mess now. The snow is so pretty out the window with the sun peeking out on it. Still cold out, but it's warming up.
The girls were excited to go back to school. Can't say that I was disappointed. They were just starting to get bored about being home. We all had colds over the break so at least we got that out of the way. T's foot healed and was not broken, (his ladder slipped when he was climbing onto the roof the other day and he fell to the ground). He starts girls jr high basketball practice today so it's a good thing it's feeling better.
AT & I are hanging out at home. I have a class to finish up so I'm going to work like crazy to get that done. I'm hoping for a small extenstion to Feb 1st. Keep your fingers crossed.
Guess I don't know too much else for today. Best get to work and accomplish some things before I run out of time to do it. I keep thinking it's only 8:30 since the kids just left for school, but unfortunately it's already 10:30! It was nice to sleep in though (he he he).
Enjoy your day!
