Finally Summer!

Summer is officially here!  We survived VBS last week (I say that because I was co-coordinator of the event) and now we are free!  Well, at least until the next baseball game ;-)

My back is better, but still not fixed.  By that I mean, nothing has been determined as the cause of what happened.  I am off meds unless it starts feeling bad, but still supposed to be on light lifting duty (ha ha ha).  I'm really not the type to wait around for someone else to come lift stuff for me and I know, I know, if I want my back to be healthy, I should, but we'll just chalk it up to my stubborn heritage.  (Some may call it stupidity, but I blame stubborn heritage.  I usually am not a blamer, but this time I couldnt' resist.)

I am halfway through my Master's class.  Just finished up the 5th class last night so one more year to go!  Woo hoo!  Haven't had much time to do much else with assignments, baseball games, camps, and VBS going on.  Hoping to do some quilting soon!

The kittens are loving life.  They have grown so much and they are actually starting to get along with Jake.  Jake's pups came to visit this weekend and they actually tolerated them as well.  They killed a bird the other day so we have high hopes they will be great mousers.

AD has started gymnastics.  She is our monkey and if anyone could do it and do it well, it would be her.  Last week was her first week so we'll see how she survives week 2.  Sadly they do not allow flash cameras and I haven't figured out how to shut the flash off on my camera (as techy as I may seem, apparently it is really true what they say about appearances being deceiving).  She is pretty excited and we are happy to have something that only she gets to do.

AJ is really into volleyball right now.  She is going to go to camp this week (she already went to our school's camp) at another school.  She is really doing well at it and if she continues in this manner she will be pretty good next year.  I think it's important to have something you do well and she seems to and loves it.

AT is plugging along.  He really enjoyed attending VBS (the Preschool version).  I think he will really like PS next year.  He is loving being outside helping T around the yard.  His hair is snow white because he keeps taking off his hat outside.

T is busy with summer Babe Ruth (13-15 yr olds) baseball.  His team is playing in the District tourney this weekend.  There are three teams (counting his) and if they make the top two they get to go to State at the end of July.  I really hope they make it to help bolster the baseball program and it would be so thrilling for those kids to get to go to something major like that.  If anyone can coach them into it, I know my husband can!  He's also been busy planting trees for our windbreak/privacy fence and cleaning up around the yard.

In a nutshell, that's the extent of what I know.  I'd apologize for not posting for awhile, but it's starting to get redundant.  I'm thinking I just need a disclaimer at the top of my blog that says "Sorry for not posting lately."  It's a thought, and not a bad one.

Enjoy your day!

Bad News for Mom, but Good News for the Kids

Well last week it was the flu and now this week it's my back.  I must have decided to do too much because yesterday my back went out.  I have always had back tweaks (probably not the technical term, but it works for me) but nothing like this.  I made it through my last day of work by scooting around on a wheeled chair.  After school was another story though.  T & the chiropractor had to carry me (how embarrassing) into and out of the appointment.  However, I was in bad enough shape that even he couldn't fix me until my back loosened up. So off to the TC we went.  After being wheeled in to the urgent care, I finally got a shot (yeah!) that took the edge off.  I was also awarded some good meds to help me through.  I couldn't have made it without T.  Not only did he practically carry me (not an easy feat-you can ask my bathroom scale) but he stayed home and took care of things today (which was good because the meds knocked me out for the entire morning).  I am finally able to walk and do things (like shower on my own) but I can still feel that it's not right yet.

In good news, though, my children are ecstatic (did I spell that right?).  There are two little kittens running around outside, Elvis & King, (just call us Graceland in the desert).  They are just little itty bitty things and hopefully they can survive the coyotes, the road, and the children (especially AT).  I'm hoping they will be good little mousers. They came highly recommended by my friend who gave them to me.  Thanks M!  I know her intentions were good so she wouldn't lie about something like that ;-)  I will post pictures later when I can move more freely.

Enjoy your day!

I Know It's Been Awhile

It takes a night of staying up during a tween's slumber party watching It's Complicated for me to finally catch up on what we've been up to for the last month.  Baseball finished up for AJ, AD, and T.  T's school baseball  team finished up and then summer ball started.  AJ's team finished 4th in the league and then her Battle of the Books team tied for 2nd.  She's had quite the month.  She turned 11 today and it's hard to believe that it has been that long.  AD had a birthday in the last week, too.  She has been wanting a bowling alley birthday party for the longest time so that's what we did.  Good thing we didn't plan on an outside water party (like we usually do) because the weather didn't corporate at all.  Finally today the weather was nice and I ended up getting sunburned.  I'm sure there are a whole bunch of things I am forgetting to fill everyone in on, but when I think about it, I'll try to remember to post them.  There is only five and a half more days of schol left and then it's summer!

Enjoy your day!
