Happy 4th to you all!

Happy 4th of July!

This year we went to BC's 4th of July parade and BBQ.  There were over 70 firetrucks representing at least 20 counties/agencies to pay respect to a local community member who was killed fighting a fire last week.  It was really amazing to see all the firetrucks lined up at the park.  The flags flying really took on a different meaning as well.  Thanks to all those military members who fight for our freedom and the rights of others!  Thank you to all the military families that go without their spouses/mother/father/brother/sister/etc!  We appreciate all that you do!

This one is one of my favorite pictures.  I love the way the flags are standing out in the wind.

The firefighter that died liked to hose everyone off so they continued that tradition today.
In honor of a fallen firefighter in the line of duty.

God Bless!

I Don't Do Well With . . .

1) Emotions.  These last few weeks have been a real emotional upheaval with one of my dear friends.  She has lost her position in our community and will be returning home with her family and sub over there.  (Not teaching "sub" other types of "sub.")  I know I will miss her greatly and have come to appreciate her wisdom and willingness to listen.  (Which is probably a good trait for one of my friends since I have a tendency to talk.  A lot.)  Through the wonder of technology though, like Facebook, we can still keep in touch.  I know this is a good move for because she gets to get away from a very stressful environment.  (I only wish I could be so lucky.  Had I kept my mouth shut, maybe I could have, too, I suppose.)

2) Cleaning.  Since VBS finished up last week, I had to get on it.  Cleaning is the least productive chore I know of.  You just get everything cleaned up, put away, folded, dusted, vacuumed, and mopped and 5 seconds, not 5 MINUTES, but literally seconds later, it is dirty again.  Plus no one can tell.  Frustrating beyond all belief.

3) Research.  My next master's class is on educational research.  While I don't have to actually do the research, I just have to write a Literature Review (10-15 pages).  yeah me  There's a reason I went into Math & Science instead of Language Arts.

4) Busy Schedules.  We got through VBS and had a few days off before the schedule filled up again.  AJ had a volleyball camp this week one town (20 min away) over.  She was able to learn from a college-level coach (which thrilled her) and even got a university labelled volleyball (even more thrilled).  Her comment was "You can't outgrow a volleyball; you can a t-shirt."  Good point.  She was able to go with a friend so she wasn't all alone.  Those were long days because I had to drive back and forth several times both days.  This next week she has basketball camp, but that's here in town, thankfully.  Meahwhile, T was with his baseball team at the District tourney.  We went up and watched last night.  They split but ended up getting 2nd and so they earned a berth to State in three weeks!  While we are excited, we now have three more weeks of baseball.  AD had a good 2nd week at gymnastics.  The first week she was the only one in her class, but this week there were two more girls.  She is having a blast.  AT is just going with the flow still.  There isn't too much for him to do (schedule wise) but he is keeping himself busy.  We are just working on getting him ready for Preschool this fall.  I am still trying to get caught up around here.

I Do Well With. . . .
1) Ice cream.  Had a lot of that in the last few weeks.  That's what summer is all about!

2) Sleeping in.  I have got to a little bit of that lately.  I absolutely love sleeping in.  Can't wait until all three kids are teenagers and don't want to get up on Sat.  I will be right there with them!  Late nights assist the sleeping in because by the time the kids go to bed, T and I need the usual 2 hrs of downtime before turning in ourselves.

3) Seeing my husband everyday.  Yes, I know I am lucky that he is not off fighting in a war (thank you to those who do, we appreciate the freedoms you protect for us!) or working at some far away location.  I appreciate that he is around for most of the day.  (A benefit for being a teacher I guess.)  The kids love having him around as well.

4) Flowers.  I love this time of year.  My daisies have finally bloomed and thanks to the milder than usual weather, all my flowers are looking fantastic.

5) Kids & Kittens.  It is amazing what that combination can do and the smile they can bring to your face.

While the things I don't do do well with have longer explanations, I have more things listed that I do well with so the positive wins!

Enjoy your day!
