Another Planet

Wow, does it seem like I have been on another planet or what? Cannot believe how long it's been and how busy we've been. So many little things we've been trying to accomplish (especially now that the weather is getting better outside). And then, like tonight, you remember that when you spend your time outside working, nothing gets done inside!

Baseball, sadly, is over for us. Our team went to Wenatchee last weekend, but wasn't able to play the best we needed to to stay in the tourney. My brother-in-law & nephew's team, however, won their games and then won today and are playing in the state championship baseball game tomorrow! We are headed over there to watch (and hopefully deliver their new puppy). If they win, we joked the name should be Champ. Next weekend is more baseball, but that's the last of it.

This week, being such a short week, flew by. Next week is the last week of school (woo hoo!). I guess that's about what I know. It doesn't seem like that much stuff to have kept me from writing all week, but apparently it did. Hope you all had a great Memorial Weekend!

Enjoy your day!

Busy Mother's Day Weekend

Well my parents came up for Mother's Day weekend and instead of having a nice relaxing vacation, we put them right to work. For the last two years, T & I have debated about what to do with our swingset. Do we buy a new one and combine the two or redo this one or what? So we talked to my dad (who is ubersmart when it comes to fixing things) and he managed to transform this:
Old swingset (front view)
Old Swingset (side view)

Old Swingset (other side view)

To this:

New Swingset (front view)
(I didn't know they sold diaper clad children at Lowe's? Did we get a receipt for him?)
;-)

New Swingset (side view)
(Notice the steering wheel and the old spool on it's side?)

New Swingset (side view)

New swingset (back view)
(They built the rock wall out of wood we had and then Dad covered it with indoor/outdoor carpet so the kids wouldn't get slivers. Cool, huh?)
The kids were so excited. AJ had wanted a rock wall and a climbing rope. AD just wanted to be able to swing without bumping into someone else. AT got a steering wheel and a horn to drive the whole thing. They are definitely spending a whole lot more time outside. We also moved it to a better location so that we can see them from the house. It's so nice to not have to worry about the swing beam collapsing on them when they are swinging.
Thanks Mom & Dad!
Come over and play sometime!
Enjoy your day!

Man it's been awhile!

Good grief! Tomorrow is already the 18th of May (where has the month gone) and I just noticed my last blog entry was quite a while ago! Yikes! What have we been doing?

1) Baseball: Baseball has entered it's last phase. We've been knee deep in league games and trying to make it to districts. The boys have done a great job and have earned themselves a trip to State. Now unlike other sports, State for baseball is two weekends. One weekend is called Regionals and there are 4 Regionals going around the state. This narrows the playing field (did you catch the pun?) down from 16 to the final four. The Final Four weekend is usually referred to as State, but that's just for simplicity sake. So our boys have made it to State (Regionals) again this year. Woo hoo!! They did a great job this weekend and I can't wait to see how they do next weekend. The seniors will be missed greatly and I know they mean a lot to T. These seniors have been pretty dedicated and it will be hard to fill the holes when they leave this year.

2) Tball: We finished tball up. About blew away in the process, but we made it. I swear every game this year was a windfest. Course, it's eastern WA so you know how that goes. I think AD had a good time. She seemed to do okay. She's still my girl who would rather play than do anything.

3) Working: I've been working like crazy lately. I almost will be glad when school's over so I can just stay home.

4) Visiting: My folks came up for Mother's Day weekend and we had a great time visiting. My dad totally rebuilt our swingset (I don't know how he knows all these things, but I'm so glad he does). I will post pix tomorrow of the before and after. The kids are totally loving it and the swing beam doesn't sag like it's going to snap when they are all on it. We moved it while we were working on it so now we have to start working on our swimming pool for next year.

5) Chores: HA HA HA! Yeah like any of that's gotten done since we've been running nuts! Guess what I get to do this week??? Plus the weather's gotten nice again, so then you feel like being outside working on weeding, mowing, etc, but the indoor chores suffer then. It's a vicious cycle I tell you!

Well I know that doesn't sound like that much that should have kept me from posting lately, but somehow it was enough. I'll try to keep up!

Enjoy your day!

busy week

Three birthdays, two exciting baseball games, some shopping, and some yard work. AT turned 3 this week and T & I turned some number in our late 30's.

T's team had two games on Friday that were really good. Blew the first game wide open and won it, but the second game was a nailbiter. Went into the 8th inning tied and one of the seniors steps up and hammers a ball that went sky high and halfway up the concrete bleachers in right center. Everyone was jumping off the bleachers and cheering. What a way to finish!

I had the best birthday. T took the kids (all three of them) fishing yesterday and I had the whole morning to myself. I finished my quilting album and got all the scraps matched up to the pictures so I could finally throw away little itty bitty pieces of fabric. By my count, I've done over 40 different quilting projects since 2001 when I first started quilting. Not bad, considering I took a few years off. However, after cleaning my sewing/guest room up, I realized I needed to get sewing again to diminish my stash! (As long as my husband never figures it out, I'm good.) I also started sorting my scraps by size. I definitely need to make some scrap quilts.

After they returned from fishing, Gma & Gpa offerred (two r's or one? I can never remember so my apologies to those spelling gurus!) to watch the kids so T and I could go out for dinner. We went to the TC and I was able to go to 4 different stores and leisurely look at everything. No rushing, no hurrying, no "AT get back here and don't get into that stuff!" It was awesome! Then T and I went to Applebee's for dinner and home again. Whew! What a day! It was the best. Thank you for Grandparents!

Then today was T's birthday, however, he didn't have as exciting of a birthday as me. We worked some more on front yard area. Weed wacking (haven't used one of those in a while and I sure could feel it! My arms were still vibrating hours after I had stopped) and dragging the front area. It's looking good and if we can smooth it out a little bit more, we can get some grass seed planted and some trees for a wind break. T's brother and nephew showed up and they all went to look at the puppies. We had a great BBQ complete with potato salad and baked beans and blackberry pie and brownies for dessert. I think he was plenty happy.

Enjoy your day!

A Finished Project that's not a quilt (he he he)

Most of you who know me well, know that I am not a scrapbooker. If I can get my pictures in a photo album, I'm proud. However, in my defense, I guess I do have one scrapbook that I have kept: my quilting album. I started this before we moved here and many of the quilts were given away because the group I quilted with donated quilts to various organizations.

Basically, it's nothing fancy (a piece of regular lined school paper with pictures, information, and scraps of fabric) however, it does count as a scrapbook. Yeah me!
I went and saw the puppies today. No pix (I'll get those tomorrow) but boy are they getting so cute! They are running around and biting each other's ears. One even let out a little bark!
Enjoy your day!
